I think one should never strive to seek approval of oneself from others because it means you are not confident of yourself and the opinion of others will weigh on you even if it's a praiseworthy opinion. Your conscience should be enough and rest of the world doesn't matter. However that doesn't mean to act as haughty it just means to be confident about your own self. One should keep looking for improvement but also be easy oneself. Recently I have found the idea of self-love to be appealing to me. I think at times I have been too hard on myself and it didn't help. I should treat myself as a best friend would and take care of.
